Girls U16: Latvia won the trophy, Sweden pushed to get second place
Latvia who secured the first place at the second day of the tournament defeated Estonia 90:65. Sweden held on to win against Finland 71:65 and took home silver medals. Estonia started off hot as they made a 8:0 run starting the first period but Latvia then found their game and took 26:20 after ten minutes of game action. Latvian girls went off in the second with 8:0 streak. Estonians were struggeling shooting the ball and the gap increased to 18 points at the half (50:32).
Latvia went on and won the third quarter 19:13. Score before the last period was 69:45 and already champions could finish the game without pressure.
Luize Sila scored 14 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. She was named the MVP of the tournament. Anstasija Cernova added 12 and Raina Tomasicka 11 points. Viktoria Timoštšuk went for 20 points for Estonia.
In the second place game Sweden started off confident winning the first quarter 20:9. Next period was quiet from both sides (13:9) and the score was 33:18 to Swedes at the half.
Finland managed to cut the deficit back 9 after the break but Sweden pushed hard in the second half of the third quarter and went off winnig the quarter 25:24. Before the last period Sweden was leading 58:42. Swdes didn`t lose their focus on last 10 minutes of the game and won silver.
Edessa Noyan had a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Wilma Sörensen added 12 points and was named the best player of the tournament for Sweden. Nea Pettinen who had 14 points and 9 rebounds in the game was selected as the best for Finland.
